Spectrophotometric determination methods play a pivotal role in pharmaceutical analysis, offering sensitive and selective techniques for quantifying drug concentrations. In this study, we explore the application of extractive spectrophotometry utilizing acidic triphenylmethane dyes as complexing agents for the determination of drugs. The objective of this research is to establish a reliable and efficient analytical approach that capitalizes on the interactions between these dyes and target drug molecules. The research methodology encompasses the preparation of standard solutions with known drug concentrations and subsequent extraction using acidic triphenylmethane dyes. The resulting complexes are analyzed spectrophotometrically to quantify the concentration of drugs within the samples. Calibration curves are constructed to correlate absorbance values with drug concentrations, enabling accurate quantification of unknown samples.

Defect play an important role in the both the physical and chemical behaviour of solids. If there exit a missing atom or an impurity in place of normal atom then a crystal is said to be have defect. Defects termed as color centers cause the crystal to become colored when the electronic ground state of the defect is excited to higher energy level by the absorption of light present in visible region of spectrum. Coloring can be achieved by different methods one of them being is by addition of stoichiometric excess of cations by heating the crystal in the alkali metal vapour followed by quick cooling. Another method of colouring crystal is by exposing them to high energy radiation like X-rays, ? rays or irradiating them with energetic neutrons or electrons. The wide range of applications of color centers are also discussed in the paper.

This paper compensates the DC voltage harmonics of medium voltage 12 Pulse Converter and it is achieved using series active power filter (APF). Voltage harmonics is dependent on firing angle delays of the converter. Series APF is connected in between converter output and the load via a Magnetic amplifier and this eliminates the DC current from the APF inverter, and inverter losses get reduced. Series APF is used to inject the compensating voltage and thus cancels the output voltage harmonics in converter. In 12 pulse converter front end phase shifting transformer with six pulse converters connected in series for high voltage applications and in parallel for high current applications. Series APF improves the ripple factor and thus minimizing necessary smoothing inductance. A model of 12 pulse AC/DC converter using series active power filter with magnetic amplifier is developed and simulated in Matlab/SIMULINK environment. The proposed control strategies for 12 pulse converter using FUZZY system are validated through extensive simulation studies.

Periodontal diseases are among the most common disease, which along with dental carries, comprise a substantial portion of cases with tooth loss. This study was performed to determine the relationship between ABO blood group and aggressive periodontitis among male students aged 12-18 years in Kermanshah schools, Iran. In this cross-sectional analytic study, 1,872 male students aged 12-18 years in the city of Kermanshah, Iran were studied. The checklist used for gathering the required data consisted of three sections including demographic data, ABO blood group, and findings of dental examination. The data were analyzed by the SPSS software using the chi-squared test. There was significant relationship between ABO blood group and aggressive periodontitis (p<0.05). The ABO blood groups AB, B, and O in order had the most significant relationships with aggressive periodontitis. The results showed that ABO blood group has relationship with aggressive periodontitis. This relationship was most prominent with blood group A. We suggest screening of patients with high risk blood groups and implementing specific preventive measures in these patients.

The elevated plasma homocysteine level has been identified as a risk factor for cerebrovascular diseases. This hyperhomocysteinaemia occurs in part as a result of polymorphism/s in methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene. Of these polymorphisms is The C677T which may represent an important genetic risk factor in vascular diseases. This study assess the relationship between the presence of the C677T polymorphism of the MTHFR gene and the risk of stroke in Bahraini population. The study group consisted of 93 stroke patients and 105 age- and sex-matched control subjects free from stroke. The MTHFR gene mutation was detected by PCR followed by RFLP using Hinf I restriction enzyme. Of the stroke cases; 77.4% were found to have the C677T wild type homozygous (CC) and 22.6% being heterozygous (CT) and homozygous (TT) for the mutant type. The mutant genotypes (CT and TT) of the MTHFR did not differ between patients and control subjects (OR=0.49; 95% CI 0.260.92). This indicates that this mutation is unlikely to play a major role in stroke predisposition in our sample. On the other hand, high frequency of hypertensive (71.4%), diabetics (67%), heart diseases (30.2%) and having previous stroke (28.9%) was observed among stroke patients. Also high cholesterol level, sedentary life and smoking were common among patients (71.4, 85.4 and 35.5% respectively). Our results suggest that these common risk factors exert more influence on stroke predisposition than the MTHFR C677T polymorphism in Bahraini population.
