 Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the mental retardation in relation to socio-economic and psychological context with special reference to Assam state. Numerous studies and investigation have been initiated by the investigators and researches. This paper also carried out on reveals that there are a large numbers of factors or causes responsible for mental retardation of the people. Mental retardation is perhaps not only he or she suffering, but also the problems and effects to the parent, family, society and communities where in the mentally retarded children is born. The study of on mentally retarded has a psychological basis and it is a problem also for education at modern set up at large. The sample consisted of 60 both boys and girls mentally retardation children were randomly selected from studying in high school of Barpeta district in Assam state. The descriptive survey method used in this study. In more scientific terms, mental retardation refers to sub-average intellectual functioning which originates during the developmental period and is associated with impairment in adaptive behavior. Mental retardation may be caused by defects in the developing embryo, by deprivation in early childhood, by disease of the nervous system, by toxins and poisons, or by brain injury early in life. Further, it was found that there exists no significant difference between the mental retardation in relation to socio-economic and psychological context. It is found that mental retardation is a heterogeneous group of disorder characterized by significant impairments of cognitive development due to abnormality in the structure of brain. Mentally retarded persons have an IQ of below 70 which is evaluated in psychological medical tests.

 Abstract

The main aim of this research is to explore the geotechnical design challenges and review the future perspectives. Geotechnical engineering challenges fall into failure loads, deformations, and flow. Each issue may be handled in one of three ways: by experimental modelling, theoretical modelling, or drawing on prior experience [1]. The roads and bridges across the globe have had small to catastrophic collapses owing to natural catastrophes, harsh weather, and human mistake in the past. Most of these failures are linked to the breakdown of the ground that supports the buildings themselves. New constructions are being designed all around the globe in the twenty-first century by structural and geotechnical engineers who are now faced with the issue of averting similar failures [1]. However, these obstacles are solved due to breakthroughs in engineering materials and cutting-edge technologies in the transportation business. Geotechnical engineering problems are drawn to scale as the first step in addressing them. Fundamental and constitutive laws are the two basic sorts of rules that are employed to address an issue. Limit equilibrium analysis is a common method for determining a failure load (such as the ultimate bearing capacity of a footing) or a failure moment (such as slope stability). Because of the sheer volume and complexity of the arithmetic required, numerical solutions are almost always performed on a computer. In solving differential equations, the finite difference approach is very strong. When it comes to mechanical issues, dimensional analysis [1] is an invaluable resource[2].

 Abstract

Theoretically, the absorption cross-sections ?_abs of hadrons interacting with target nuclei have been measured by several groups of scientists over widely range of energy on a large number of target nuclei from He to U, by considering de-Broglie's wavelength of incident hadrons. Later, a parameter, called transmission coefficient T was introduced by some other physicists. In the present work, nuclear Transparency has been studied in Antiproton - Nucleus Interactions, using black disc formula along with transmission coefficient T. The nuclei are assumed to be completely black for T=1 and completely transparent for T=0. The agreement between the calculated and experimental values of ?_abs is achieved in all cases, considered in the present work.

 Abstract

There is no denying that corruption is rampant in India. Small-scale corruption affecting the basic rights and services of the average person is rampant without the serious scandals of corruption. Corruption is rampant in Indian civilization and has caused much suffering in the human race. This paper discusses environmental issues, causes, consequences and possible steps to address corruption in Indian society. It emphasizes that transparency, ethics, accountability and consistency and institutional weaknesses have provided fertile ground for the growth of corruption in India. It also emphasized how corruption is related to development issues in India and what negative effects are evident in India's social, political and economic system. The paper also touches on what types of reforms are needed to combat corruption in India. Especially those who are developing face the problem. Today all countries are facing with the problem of corruption. So it became a matter of concern for both governments and political scientists. Because corruption has many negative consequences, not for the government but for the whole country. It affects the economy and politics in the country. India's economy is the 6th largest in the world and is doing very well in some of the world's most competitive indicators. According to the financial institution's strengths, business acumen and innovation, it is among the first 30 countries in the world, while fraudulently ranked 85th by the Corruption Perception Index of Transparency International. That means half of the world is less corrupt than India. Indian society has long suffered from this problem. Kautilya mentioned in his Arthasastra about bureaucratic corruption.

 Abstract

Environmental science has traditionally focused on conservation of natural resources. However, there is a second, little known, branch of environmental science that deals with the conservation of cultural resources. As a result of physical, chemical, and biological weathering, many historic stone structures, archeological sites, and objects are at risk, and are in need of protection. Since these structures are often large and located outdoors, they pose particular conservation challenges that require collaborative efforts between conservators and scientists. Historic stone supports large and diverse communities of microorganisms that colonize both the stone surface and the porous interior. In many cases, microbial processes have been implicated in the deterioration of the stone. The study of the role of microorganisms in this process is in its infancy, but recent findings have important implications for the preservation of cultural resources and for our understanding of weathering in natural systems. This paper deals with the biodeterioration and biodegradation of Choti-Bari Kacheries temples by fungi and their remedial measure applied on the monuments.

 Abstract

This study was carried out since there is a deep rooted interest in the accuracy of laboratory diagnosis and to predict the extent of typhi infection in Madurai area, Tamil Nadu, India. Cultures were identified by standard methods. Salmonella typhi was the more frequent serotype isolated (i.e.) 94% with the remaining 6% being Salmonella paratyphi. A total of 100 samples from diarrheic symptom persons were processed for the isolation of Salmonella. All the isolates were subjected to antimicrobial sensitivity tests and serotyping. Out of 100 samples 65% was obtained typhoid positive, among 61% Salmonella typhi and 4% S.paratyphi were obtained. Ceftrioxone, ciprofloxacin, cefunoxine were most effective while oflaxacin and chloromphenicol were least effective. Our finding shows that Salmonella typhi was predominantly found. For typhoid control measures were suggested to follow by proper treated drinking water.
